Another day, another death,
Can I dump my feelings in a basket?
I ask a question to the emissary.
Why?
Another day, another pet,
Shame, I can’t bury him in a casket.
I hide my sorrow with confectionery.
Cry.
Another day I shan’t forget.
Objective nature’s always dead set.
I write another row in the obituary.
Goodbye.
“Can I Dump My Feelings in a Basket?” is one of the poems in the anthology The Lion Eating the Sun.
