10 x 10 (Ruby)

Gone are the days of / mulling over what should’ve been
and the bitter candy-coated delusions / that passed by me unseen.
From the pedestal you fell / the golden crown of perfection
shattered to unsightly little pieces / irreparable and unqualified for redemption.
That bastardly boy named universe / thought me a gullible fellow
dangled hope in my face / mistaking my sight for narrow.
I had sold my heart / in exchange for a soul
that knows none of expecting / knows not how to console.
While I carve my exterior / to suit my desired acme
somewhere out there the heart / had metamorphosed to a ruby.
